Seasonal Warehouse Helper Position Highlights:
- Pay: $24.66 per hour
- Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours/week
- Shifts: 5 days a week, 9pm - 5am (overnight)
- Location: Ajax, ON
Responsibilities include:
- Remove dunnage from trailers and prep them for loading
- Collect, stack and organize pallets
- Remove overflow of pallets from zones
- Load pallet trailer and maintain general tidiness of the dock
- Assist putting decant/top off pallets in the infeed
- Assist in the removal of “Top Off” pallets from the outfeed to be staged and loaded at the appropriate door.
Qualifications:
- Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to read and understand information on a Material Safety Data Sheet, and adhere to safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to work independently and within team environment
- Must be able to operate powered industrial vehicle (PIV), vacuum cleaner, and other various types of equipment.
- Must have basic computer skills utilizing windows based software
Working Conditions
- Grocery is warm. Employees often wear shorts and T-shirts year round.
- Cooler is approximately 1 - 2°C. Employees often wear jogging pants, sweatshirts, and a light jacket.
- Freezer is approximately –18°C. Freezer equipment including thermal suits, gloves and boots are provided.
- There are approximately 60 employees working per shift.
- Employees are provided with a $250 annual clothing allowance. For the purchase of approved CSA steel toed boots, clothing or any combination of the two.
- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to various food-safe cleaning detergents and soaps.
