Director of Finance and Administration
About the role
THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance and Administration to join an organization in central Alberta. This role is responsible for leading and overseeing key corporate functions, including finance, information technology, and corporate administration. The Director of Finance and Administration provides strategic leadership in the oversight and management of financial systems, planning, and internal controls. This role supports the development and implementation of organizational strategies, business processes, and best practices to ensure effective financial stewardship, quality reporting, and long-term sustainability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Finance team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Oversee staff performance, coaching, and succession planning.
- Promote positive organizational culture and ensure effective internal communication.
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, tax, budgeting, and reporting.
- Develop and manage annual and multi-year operating and capital budgets.
- Lead financial forecasting, variance analysis, and resource alignment with strategic goals.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial systems, statements, and year-end audits.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with regulations and financial policies.
- Oversee financial risk management, asset protection, and safety practices.
- Manage procurement processes and monitor investment and cash flow strategies.
- Represent the organization in financial matters with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare presentations and reports for leadership, the board, and public/media inquiries.
- Implement financial technology solutions and ensure excellent customer service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- CPA or CPA legacy designation required.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial management roles, with at least 7 years in leadership.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, internal controls, budget planning, a of nd audit procedures.
- Proven leadership, team building, and communication skills.
- Experience with enterprise-level software systems and financial reporting tools.

- Understanding of Board governance and experience working with elected officials.
- Ability to align corporate functions with strategic priorities and long-term planning goals.
- Strong command of finance, budgeting, and accounting practices.

- Proactive, analytical thinker with a focus on innovation and service improvement.
- Effective verbal and written communicator with experience preparing reports, presentations, and policy documents.
- Committed to ethical governance and capable of handling sensitive information with professionalism.
