About the role
About Kick Kick is an applied AI company building the first self-driving bookkeeping experience. We’re combining machine and tax code to automate the business finances for 60M entrepreneurs.
Why Kick
- Product obsession - Described as an “Apple-like” user experience on the bleeding edge of application-layer AI product development practices.
- World-class team - Kick’s team has deep experience across AI, finance and startups–including a $250M exit with 5M users.
- Strategic investors - Backed by OpenAI Startup Fund, Google Ventures, Felicis, General Catalyst and 50+ investors from Stripe, Square and Notion.
- Challenge - Helping millions of individual Business Owners with a “hair on fire” problem with the potential to change an industry.
- Growth - Unique growth strategy focusing on Accountant partnerships.
- Value - Top of market cash and equity compensation.
Ideal candidate You’ve worked in customer-facing startup roles, built the playbooks, instinctively align revenue to customer value and know when to build for scale and when to go high touch. You are excited to solve these problems with a first principles mindset leveraging AI to automate away the mundane and transform “manual” into “scalable”. You understand accounting & finance well enough to spot issues and use that insight to build structure, improve processes, and deliver exceptional customer experiences that drive retention and expansion.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll roll up your sleeves, talk to customers, streamline onboarding, build workflows, automate support, and create the foundation for an AI first revenue focused CX organization.
You Will
- Design and document repeatable processes across the customer journey from handoff to year-end close and renewals.
- Own our annual close delivery process in coordination with Operations & Engineering focusing on efficient, on-time delivery while pacing toward $1M ARR/FTE capacity.
- Build systems and tooling that reduce manual steps and improve internal visibility (think: Notion, Zapier, Slack, Retool).
- Establish key operational metrics (e.g. time to implementation, time to value, onboarding completion rate) and use them to drive improvements.
- Identify opportunities to increase expansion revenue and customer retention by delivering a seamless experience.
- Help shape our internal knowledge base and training for future team members. This is a “build the playbook” role.
- Respond directly to customer inquiries across onboarding and support, with clarity, empathy, and action.
- Opportunity to contribute to our emerging Accountant-channel, establishing systems and playbooks that will support the next phase of Kick’s growth.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has 3–7 + years in SaaS Customer Success, CX Operations, or implementation, with a track record of improving onboarding and retention.
- Is comfortable with small-business accounting fundamentals and has supported or directly executed year-end close or similar reconciliation processes.
- Uses modern enablement and automation tools—Notion, Retool, Zapier/Make, light SQL—to remove manual effort and surface clear metrics.
- Measures success by Time-to-Value, CSAT, and revenue contribution and adjusts priorities accordingly.
- Communicates clearly in writing and on calls, articulating customer needs and internal recommendations with equal precision.
- Delivers high-quality work independently, applies a first-principles mindset, and maintains momentum without extensive oversight.
Bonus If
- You have hands-on experience reconciling year-end books or leading an annual close project for SMBs.
- You’ve built workflow automations in tools like Retool, Zapier/Make, or light SQL to eliminate repetitive CX or accounting tasks.
- You’ve worked directly with QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite migrations, including chart-of-accounts mapping and data cleanup.
- You were an early employee (or founder) at a startup and are comfortable defining process, policy, and metrics from the ground up.
- You hold advanced technical or accounting credentials (CPA, EA, or similar) and can translate that expertise into scalable systems.
- You have firsthand empathy for entrepreneurs: you’ve been self-employed, run a side business, or served accountants and small-business owners in a prior role.
Compensation Competitive salary with location based incentives, QSBS eligible equity with top-tier medical, dental, vision 100% employer paid for the employer and dependents.
