About the role

About Langs

For over 50 years, Langs Bus Lines has been a trusted leader in school bus transportation across Southwestern Ontario. Our success is rooted in our commitment to safety, service, and community. We’re proud to support students, families, and schools through safe, reliable transportation — and to invest in the people who make that possible.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Compliance & Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team. This is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing health and safety programs across our 9 Ontario branches, as well as ensuring full compliance with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Driver Certification Program (DCP) requirements.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on responsibility — ensuring safe workplace practices, supporting driver compliance and training, and maintaining positive relationships with MTO, WSIB, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance (Driver Certification Program – MTO):

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the MTO for DCP-related audits, communications, and compliance
  • Track and manage driver incidents, including collisions, infractions, and demerit points
  • Coordinate recertification and remedial training for drivers following incidents
  • Notify insurance providers of applicable incidents and coordinate with legal (e.g., paralegal support) as needed
  • Oversee all required documentation for driver trainees and trainers (licences, files, medicals)
  • Maintain and update all DCP training materials to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Lead monthly meetings with driver trainers and coordinate training updates with Branch Managers

Health & Safety (OHSA Compliance):

  • Develop, implement, and maintain workplace health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with the OHSA
  • Lead WSIB claims management and internal incident tracking
  • Conduct hazard assessments, workplace inspections, and ensure SDS documentation is up-to-date
  • Coordinate and deliver health and safety training programs that reflect current legal and operational standards
  • Serve as an internal resource for all H&S communications across branches

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Health and Safety OR minimum 2 years of experience in an OH&S role
  • Experience in the transportation industry or a regulated environment strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of OHSA, WSIB processes, and training delivery
  • Proficient with policy writing, documentation management, and compliance tracking
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Certifications (Required or Willing to Obtain):

  • WHMIS
  • JHSC Certification
  • First Aid & CPR/AED
  • MTO School Bus Driver Improvement Instructor Workshop (or willing to complete)
  • Signing Authority under the MTO DCP Program (must be eligible and willing to obtain)

Why Join Langs?

We offer a supportive, team-oriented environment and a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact on workplace safety and driver performance across our organization.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive wages and performance-based pay
  • Paid group benefits (health, dental, life insurance, LTD)
  • Retirement savings and profit-sharing programs
  • Enhanced vacation plan
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
