**Knowledge Management Specialist (6 month contract)

Location: Burnaby, BC / Hybrid

Staffing Placement Opportunity** Work Assignment Overview This role requires expertise in Knowledge Management , with preferred experience in ITIL and ServiceNow's Knowledge module . Additional information on specific duties is provided in the Work Assignment Requirements section below.

General Description The IT Business Decision Support Consultant (Level 2) is responsible for gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing business requirements for large and/or complex IT projects. The consultant will produce high-quality documentation and provide subject matter expertise in one or more key areas to IT teams, business stakeholders, and end-users to support the achievement of organizational goals.

Experience And Role Accountabilities

  • Minimum 7 years of business analysis experience on large IT projects within complex enterprise environments.

  • Produce comprehensive documentation such as governance materials, process impact assessments, process maps and designs, and manage stakeholder reviews, approvals, and sign-offs.

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams/vendors on data migration and system interface activities to ensure all dependencies and requirements are properly documented and communicated. Documentation may include:

  • Business Requirements

  • Functional & Non-Functional Requirements

  • Data Requirements

  • Use Cases and Scenarios

  • Requirements Traceability Matrix

  • Functional Specifications

  • UI Specifications

  • Support testing efforts by creating test plans, test scripts, and test reports to validate that business requirements are met.

  • Provide clarification and ongoing support to development, user experience, training, and testing teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support project planning and execution; assist in transitioning projects to operational teams and track deliverables through effective meeting documentation.

  • Facilitate workshops with internal and external subject matter experts, stakeholders, and implementation partners to complete assigned analysis tasks.

  • Ensure proposed solutions are viable and aligned with business needs and project goals.

  • Conduct impact assessments for changes in design/scope and maintain change logs.

  • May be required to produce change management documentation, including:

  • Stakeholder Impact Analyses

  • Change Management Approaches

  • Training Materials

  • Provide subject matter expertise in areas such as specific applications or infrastructure technologies to enhance internal capability.

Education And Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of how business objectives are supported by technology solutions.
  • Proven business analysis capabilities, with the ability to quickly understand new problems, project goals, and high-level designs.
  • Experience in the public sector or utilities industry is an asset.
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT project methodologies is beneficial.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a professional setting.

Work Assignment Requirements The selected candidate will have demonstrable experience with:

  • Assessing and improving Knowledge Management practices.
  • Defining principles and standards for both end-user and internal support knowledge bases.
  • Creating and delivering documentation and training materials to support long-term KM adoption.
  • Collaborating across multiple project teams to integrate KM practices into broader initiatives.

Qualifications Must-Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (IT, Business, Engineering)
  • Advanced skills in business analysis with a fast learning curve for complex project environments
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Intermediate-level proficiency in MS Office (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • ServiceNow experience, especially with the Knowledge Management module
