As a Butterfly Model Manager at Jarlette Health Services, The Butterfly Model of Dementia Care is a philosophy of care that emphasizes the importance of each resident's emotional well being above day-to-day tasks and operational issues. The model accomplishes this by creating a culture that supports positive, bidirectional relationships between staff and residents, and staff and families. Staff bring their authentic self to work each day and share their human experience with the people in their care. The drive for human connection is a basic human need and it is through these positive connections that residents, and staff, enjoy a greater quality of life and work experience. This is not accomplished by a single person but instead through the ongoing and concerted effort by families, leadership, fellow team members,as well as the larger community. The successful candidate for this position will act as the conductor bringing all elements of the model together to ensure the successful implementation of the culture change within the home and the organization.
The following traits and qualifications are required:
High levels of emotional intelligence
Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario - O. Reg. 79/10, s. 46
Successful completion of or enrollment in Long Term Care Senior Management or equivalent
Passionate about dementia care
Current with dementia best practice and evidence
Visionary and inspirational
Demonstrated Political acumen
Education in an emotion-based model of care an asset
High levels of emotional intelligence
Experience in long-term care and/or dementia care
5 years of experience in a formal leadership position
Project Management training and experience as a lead in a significant project
Change Management certification and experience in initiating a significant change
Post-secondary education in research and numerology
Facilitator training and experience as a facilitator and educator
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
People management including mentoring, coaching, performance management, hiring and termination
Knowledge and aptitude in Google Suite
Drivers license and access to a vehicle
Qualification and experience in formalized change management.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing project management methodology.
2 years experience in Long Term Care (Gerontology) preferred
Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
Must be computer literate
Please note, all applicants must be located in Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada. Employment with Jarlette Health Services will be contingent on receipt of a current (within the past 6 months) criminal reference check including vulnerable sector screening before starting at the location, proof of two vaccinations against COVID-19, a screening for tuberculosis, including vulnerable sector screening and two ( 2 ) supervisory references that are satisfactory to the employer.
