One additional family physician needed for an addiction medicine focused practice on lovely Vancouver Island. No prior addiction medicine experience is required. ER or inpatient detox experience would be of benefit.
Clinic is situated on the grounds of one of Canada’s premiere addiction treatment facilities. The facility has 75 inpatient beds. Clients stay on average for 60 days of addiction treatment. Added variety to primary care with the element of doing admission and detox management for inpatients.
Hours are flexible and extra work in available in the local community hospital or the city of Victoria which is a 40min drive.
The clinic provides primary care for patients, staff and the residents of Cobble Hill. Virtual care is provided to alumni of the centre. Income is dramatically boosted as all staff and facilities are provided by the centre which makes overhead costs nearly zero.
All required addiction medicine training will be provided by a UBC clinical instructors already working at the clinic. Canadian or American board certification in addiction medicine will be promoted and supported.
Onsite psychiatry services create a collegial work environment. After hours on call is available but not required. Hospital privileges at local Cowichan District hospital would be an asset but not a requirement.

Overhead: 5%
Benefits May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change):
- Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
- Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
- Flat fee: $6,508.80
- Fee Premium: 4.20%
- CME: $2,200/annum year 3-4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community.
