Position: Massage & Fitness Manager
Location: Blue River, BC
Type: Seasonal, Full-Time
Reports to: VP of Resort Operations
Responsibilities:
-
Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business regarding the Massage and Fitness department.

Lead successful massage program operating daily at MWHS Blue River and Albreda Lodge
-
In charge of fitness area, acquisition and organizing of gym equipment, cleanliness and overall appearance: massage area, whirlpool/sauna/steam areas, games room
-
Interviewing, contract negotiating, hiring and orientation of new fitness desk employees and massage contractors
-
Organizing of massage requests and subsequent booking of treatments for guests
-
Confirmations of massage bookings and requests, written, email & phone.
-
Supervising and scheduling the massage contractors and fitness area attendants.
-
Scheduling of stretch classes and conducting stretch classes.
-
Establish and maintain department collateral such as operations manuals, job descriptions, staff training guides, pamphlets, marketing materials, performance reviews Season start-up and shut down, including the cleanup and organization involved
-
Responsible for Massage department communications with the Lodge and Albreda.

Communications with front desk, reservations, and housekeeping.
-
Attend weekly Manager's meetings.
-
Schedule and lead a weekly Massage Department team meeting.
-
Participate each week in the Saturday guest orientation session.
-
Lead by example, follow specific procedures and policies in the employee manual.

Encourages massage and fitness area staff to perform their duties to the high standard with which we as a company pride ourselves.

Immediately corrects any violations of company policy by an employee.
-
Develop teamwork and motivate members through setting of clear expectations and recognize and reward outstanding performance.

Maintains excellent communication and good working relationships with all departments.
-
Maximize relationships and create rapport with guests and contacts.
-
Maintains a proper and exemplary image while on and off duty and represents MWHS appropriately and with integrity.

The Massage and Fitness Manager will be on call. And since emergency situations do arise, after regular hours, the Massage and Fitness Manager will maintain a phone and have the number included in our company list for last minute emergencies.

Build and maintain ongoing awareness of trends in the spa industry, new products and services.

Ensure that all services meet the highest standards of the spa and hospitality industry and to ensure efficient, effective, and cost-effective operations.

Crisis Management: ensure no unauthorized communication with the media.
-
Emergency Response: participate in emergency planning, emergency simulations, and possible real-life emergencies as part of the emergency response and base rescue plans.

Requirements:

3+ years of direct work experience in a spa/clinic supervisory management capacity.

Hospitality experience - working with various departments
-
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, support and guide a cohesive team.
-
3+ years' experience providing body treatments and massage as a spa practitioner or Registered Massage Therapist in BC or have equivalent education/experience
-
Excellent knowledge in physiology and anatomy
-
Familiarity with remote lodge lifestyle and adaptation to rural living
-
Experience conducting stretch or yoga classes for groups of 20 people or more
-
Understanding of elite clientele and the accommodation of unique requests
-
High level of proficiency with treatment booking software, customer relationship management software, Microsoft Office, D365, Workday

Exemplary organization skills

This role involves approximately 30 hours of administrative work per week and the other hours are made up of massage time if it is warranted.
