Position Summary Reporting to Director, Credit Risk Management, the Bilingual Account Manager, Default Management is responsible for managing a portfolio of mortgage files undergoing enforcement action. In addition, the team member is responsible for the reporting and tracking of potential losses as well as overseeing post enforcement recovery.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Relationship management with law firms, property managers, and realtors.
- Management of a portfolio of mortgages in default from legal assignment to disposition of assets.
- Play a lead role in determining and approving default management strategies, ensuring they are followed to resolution.
- Review and processing of invoices relating to mortgage enforcement.
- Review and processing of title transfers to and from Computershare to facilitate enforcement action.
- Negotiate payment and settlement arrangements for clients in default, maintaining established parameters for delinquencies and losses.
- Responsible for first-level customer complaints relating to mortgage enforcement.
- Identifying potential losses and ensuring appropriate loss provisions are always maintained.
- Ensure compliance with the bank’s policies and regulatory requirements pertaining to mortgage collections and enforcement.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure payments are correctly processed and applied.
- Oversee escalations and make recommendations on complex issues on loss mitigation to Management.
- Oversee all estate files on files undergoing enforcement and/or insolvency.
- Measure and report on processing efficiency including on files requiring exceptions to the Bank’s policies and practices.
- Contribute to the business unit overall operational efficiency by identifying and proposing effective remedy and/or solutions to maximize efficiencies.
Qualifications & Experience Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:
- The position requires a high school diploma.
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- At least 5 years’ experience in default/collections or administration in the residential mortgage lending industry
- Thorough understanding of collections/recovery practices, and mortgage enforcement practices in Canada
- Confident using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel etc.
- Exceptional time-management, organization, and diligence with the proven ability to multi-task and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven record of setting real estate listing prices and negotiating sale prices.
- Fluent in French and English (reading, writing and spoken) is an asset.
