About the role

*6 Month Contract*

This position plays a key role in supporting the organization’s direct and indirect tax functions. The incumbent will contribute to financial reporting, compliance, strategic tax analysis, and regulatory obligations, working closely with cross-functional teams, auditors, and tax authorities.

Core Duties and Accountabilities

  • Prepare income tax provisions for both interim and year-end reporting cycles, including note disclosures for financial statements.
  • Perform detailed analysis of tax-related general ledger accounts and reconcile balances regularly.
  • Contribute to forward-looking tax planning initiatives, scenario modeling, and assessment of emerging legislation and industry developments.
  • Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of tax returns and associated schedules.
  • Develop and maintain supporting documentation for both internal records and external regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between finance, business operations, external advisors, and audit teams on all tax-related inquiries.
  • Assist with audit readiness and government reviews by compiling documentation and drafting responses.
  • Create and deliver tax-related presentations to internal departments and senior leadership.
  • Ensure procedures and internal controls are well documented and aligned with corporate compliance frameworks.

Experience & Technical Profile

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation (or equivalent) is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in tax and accounting, ideally within large corporate or public accounting settings.
  • At least 1 year of direct experience working on corporate income tax matters.
  • Completion of advanced tax training (e.g., national in-depth courses or master's in taxation) is considered an asset.
  • Well-versed in IFRS, particularly in areas affecting income tax accounting and disclosures.
  • Proficient in working with enterprise software systems and reporting environments—prior exposure to ERP tools (such as SAP) and BI solutions is desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities with fluency in Word and PowerPoint.
