ELEMENTARY OFFICE ASSISTANT
PERMANENT POSITION
We are accepting applications for the following 1.0FTE permanent Elementary Office Assistant at Upper Thames Elementary School**.**
Hours of Work: 17.5hours per week, 10 months per year
Compensation Package Details:
Rate of Pay: $24.86-$27.61, Level 1 of the OSSTF-ESSP Collective Agreement, as of September 1, 2025.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Public Relations
- Answer the main office telephone, meet and appropriately direct visitors; relay information to/from school/staff to parent/guardian/student; respond appropriately to general questions from the public, community agencies, other schools and Board office, including re-directing the questions.
- Process incoming/outgoing mail and courier.
- Attendance
- Attendance records - Collect and electronically input all attendance data each day (student absences, lates, excused, suspensions, field trips, religious holidays, bus cancellations, etc.); provide reports from Aspen of absentees to administration; record special information (doctor's notes, etc.).
- Perform safe arrival telephone calls in accordance with Board Standard Operating procedure.
- Other
- Book and issue permits/invoices for use of school facilities.
- Routine maintenance of office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, postage meter and printers.
- Provide support and perform related duties for administration; assist with various items as required such as school events (parents' night, graduation, awards night, etc.).
- Other related duties as assigned.
Job Specifications and Requirements:
- One year college diploma in office administration plus up to six months related experience; or a combination of experience, education and training that is considered equivalent;
- Proven computer literacy skills, specifically in MS Office and Aspen;
- Proficient and accurate keyboarding skills;
- The capacity to work independently, problem-solve and multi-task in a busy environment; and,
- Proven professional, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and a high degree of confidentiality.
