The Pen Centre was built in 1957 as the Niagara Peninsula Centre, a single-level, outside strip mall. It has over one million square feet of floor space and features over 180 stores, a major department store, a supermarket, Landmark Cinemas and much more.

Position overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a security guard team lead at Pen center. As a team lead, you'll be responsible for the safety and security of our patrons, staff and property. This is a leadership position that required strong organizational skills, excellent communication and the ability to lead a team of security guards effectively.

Mandatory pre-requisite

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of security experience in a mall setting or in a team lead role.
• G drivers license (parking patrols are conducted with company vehicle).
• Valid security guard license issued by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Correctional Services.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
• MUST have full available to work a permanent rotational schedule - morning and afternoon and holidays.

Job qualifications

• Proven experience in a security leadership role, preferably in retail or similar environment.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
• Ability to make quick decisions under pressure and handle stressful situations calmly.
• Comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related rules and regulations.
• Experience with access control systems and alarm monitoring procedures.
• Proven conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making, situational assessment and communication skills.
• Must be able to walk, run, stand for extended periods of time, in addition to climbing stairs.
• Knowledge of radio usage (10-codes and etiquette)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as an exemplar of security by understanding the procedures and have proven excellent work ethics.
• Lead, supervise, and train a team of security guards to ensure a high level of professionalism and efficiency.
• Conduct regular patrols to monitor and maintain a secure environment throughout the Pen center premises.
• Regularly Patrolling indoors and outdoors.
• Communicate with on site tenants in person, via telephone and/or email when required.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks.
• Act as first responder in case of emergency, first aid or any other intervention.
• Conduct regular inspections of the serviceability of firefighting and other site equipment.
• Collaborate with management and other departments to address security concerns and provide solutions.
• Keep an open line of communication and availability with the Operations teams and responding to site emails in a timely manner.
