About the role
The Adult Recreation Therapy Centre is a not-for-profit community support service located in Brantford and Brant County. The ARTC Adult Day Program provides therapeutic and recreational programs and services of interest to meet the needs of older adults and adults with morbidities, including stroke, Parkinson's Disease, multiple sclerosis, frail, isolated, cognitive impairment, early stage dementia, and others.
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Functional Exercise Lead to join our team at the Brantford location. As the Functional Exercise Lead, you will be responsible for researching, planning, implementing and evaluating individual exercises, group exercises and programs for clients attending the day program. Assessing client abilities and goals, create client-centered care plans to improve and/or maintain physical abilities to continue to support activities of daily living and independence. Document client progress, attendance, and ongoing communication with clients, caregivers, and professionals. Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement 1:1 and group exercise programs for clients to improve and/or maintain physical well-being.
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs and abilities of clients.
- Document progress and maintain accurate records of each individual's participation and attendance.
- Collaborate with staff, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
- Report statistics and progress on client attendance and participation ongoing.
-Supervise/mentor students and volunteers assisting, providing feedback and evaluation.
- Additional Duties as delegated.
Qualifications:

Degree in Kinesiology or related field (Professional Registration an asset).

Experience and knowledge working with older adults and adults with morbidities.

Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of various medical conditions and treatments.

Familiarity with local community supports and resources

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
-Current Vulnerable Sector Police Screening
- Current First Aid/CPR certified
-Computer Skills, including Microsoft Office, Activity Pro, Zoom, EMHware (an asset)
- Leadership skills, strong organizational and time management skills
-Problem solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess situations and prioritize work
