About the role
Reporting to the Climate Engagement Specialist, the YCAC Program Assistant is responsible for supporting administration and volunteer coordination for the Youth Climate Activation Circle (YCAC) program. The Youth Climate Activation Circle (YCAC) is a volunteer program that empowers Dufferin youth to advance local climate solutions. Duties of the YCAC Program Assistant include assisting in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of volunteer meetings, developing program materials, and supporting the active participation of volunteers.
The YCAC Program Assistant role is a part-time contract position, averaging 5 hours a week, between August 2025 and June 2026. The YCAC Program Assistant can have a remote, flexible schedule, but must be available to attend in-person meetings or events on weekday evenings or weekends (2 times per month).

What you’ll do
· Participate in all ongoing mandatory training requirements
· Attend and contribute to the facilitation of volunteer-led events
· Create templates and activities to assist volunteers in project planning
· Attend regular YCAC meetings both in-person and virtually
· Assist in meeting set-up and facilitation
· Assist in the preparation of agendas and presentations for Youth Climate Activation Circle (YCAC) meetings
· Research and book meeting spaces and guest speakers
· Develop educational resources and collaborative activities to provide learning and skill building opportunities for YCAC volunteers
· Create an inclusive environment when engaging with volunteers
· Other duties as assigned
What you’ll bring
· Must be at least 16 years of age
· Various experience in planning events, delivering presentations, and leadership
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong planning and organizational skills
· Knowledge of climate change causes and solutions
· Experience delivering presentations and speaking in public
· Ability to work independently to prioritize work demands and respond effectively to work assignments in a remote environment
· Valid Class G driver’s license or access to reliable transportation to event venues not accessible via public transportation
· Suitable work from home environment including reliable high-speed internet
