Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Animator is responsible for the development and implementation of recreation programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research and develop age-appropriate, culturally-relevant and thematic recreation curriculums and special events
- Animate recreational programs and special events
- Teach/support participant’s acquisition of Socio-Emotional-Learning Skills and Executive Functions while promoting positive individual and group behavior
- Intervene effectively in conflict situations
- Ensure positive interpersonal working relationships with parents, co-workers, volunteers and children
- Supervise, support and integrate C.I.T. and volunteers during programs
- Monitor, always supervise and ensure the safety of the children
- Efficiently complete all administrative tools and tasks assigned
- Actively participate and come prepared for supervisory and staff meetings
- Ensure the equipment, materials and supplies are properly used and stored
- Enforce and respect code of conduct, all rules, policies and procedures of the camp
Qualifications
- CEGEP in a related field or relevant experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in child animation and program planning
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of issues and barriers present in marginalized communities
- Skilled at effectively supporting child development
- Strong understanding of and ability to delegate, multi-tasking and manage time
- Ability to communicate in French and English
Job Conditions:
- $19,00 per hour.
- Hours: 18.5 hrs /week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 2:30pm-6pm. Thursday 1:30pm-6:00pm)
