ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)

  • Current Certification of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

  • RPN Diploma preferred

  • Current BCLS certification

  • Minimum 2 years Emergency Services experience

  • Electrocardiography Certification/Course

  • Electrocardiography experience

  • Phlebotomy Certification

  • Critical Care Course/Completed modules

  • Practice level consistent with the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Evidence of the successful, administration and management of blood & blood products

  • Evidence of the successful completion and/or practice in processing physician orders, administration of oral, subcutaneous, IM, suppository, aerosol and IV medications, venipuncture and IV Initiation and management

  • Proficiency in the use of patient assessment technology (vital signs/cardiac monitor, oximeter, and infant weigh scale)

  • First aide training/knowledge of application of ice, heat, slings, splints, dressings and compression bandages)

  • Experience with Geriatric, Pediatric, and Mental Health patient populations preferred.

-Computer skills - Intranet, Microsoft Office, Care Manager, STAR, Solcom, Risk Monitor Pro

  • Advanced clinical assessment skills course or equivalent preferred

  • Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCPI)

  • Demonstrated adherence to the expectations of nursing practice at CKHA

  • Member of RPNAO preferred

  • Satisfactory attendance
