Job Description:
As a member of the Cardiac Health team, you will have the opportunity to work across the Cardiac Health Program of Trillium Health Partners. This position requires an individual who is highly skilled, agile and adaptable with excellent time management and interprofessional skills. Within Cardiac Health, this position is supported by the Manager, Educator and the Professional Practice Leader.
As an OTA/PTA you will assist the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists with direct patient care primarily in the Cardiovascular unit. OTA/PTAs proceed with patient care assignments in a professional manner that follows guidelines set out by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, Essential Competency Profile for Physiotherapist Assistants in Canada, Standards for the Supervision of the Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTO) and the College of Nurses of Ontario (working with Unregulated Care Providers). OTA/PTAs carry out assignment(s) as written by the OT and/or PT to assist the patient in achieving their discharge goals. OTA/PTAs follow a patient-specific, goal-oriented treatment plan based on the clinical assessment findings and impressions of the OT and/or PT and is supported/reinforced by others on the Interprofessional Team

- Commitment to using current evidence to guide decision-making, to personal development and continuous learning, and to embracing a spirit of inquiry and improvement.
- Addresses differences and disagreements within the intra-professional and inter-professional teams constructively to maintain team cohesion and relationships

- Ensures clear and respectful communication amongst team members
- Promotes shared decision making and accountability within the team
- Establishes meaningful partnerships with patients, families and team members to deliver exceptional healthcare experiences.

- Complete daily workload statistics
- Rotational weekend coverage required
Qualifications:
- Diploma for both Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist Assistant from a recognized provincial college required
- Reliable and self-directed, with good critical thinking, judgment and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Satisfactory attendance and performance required
- Experience with Cardiovascular patients an asset Certified in CPR required
