Maintenance Person
Overview:
The Casual Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance, repair, and minor renovation tasks to ensure the building, grounds, and equipment are kept in good working order, safe, and presentable for residents, staff, and visitors. This position works on an as-needed basis to support the maintenance needs of the building.
Goals:
- To provide a safe environment in which residents feel safe and secure
- To provide an environment that promotes a “resident first” philosophy
- To provide care services that promote independence and autonomy ensuring the health care needs of each resident are monitored and appropriate services provided, including those required in an emergency situation
- To fulfill the staff duties as mandated under the “Resident Bill of Rights” and RHA
- Participates in continuing education, relevant to City of Hamilton Bylaw to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to front office for list of duties to be completed that day
- Working with the list provided; ensure all work is completed during your week or the soonest possible date
- Supervise and maintain facilities to ensure they are operating efficiently
Provide excellent customer service to residents
Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment
Weekly Duties:
- Remove garbage from building
Monthly Duties:
- HSC monthly building inspection for any safety hazards
Summer Time:
- Cut grass, check air conditioning units on roof, maintained back garden and grounds.
Winter Time:
- Snow removal from around the building and salting where necessary
Other information and expectations of this position:
As a member of the Facility, you will participate in continuing education, relevant to Retirement Homes Act and Regulations to ensure your skills and abilities are maintained, enhanced and that the Act is followed by all employees.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field
- Leadership abilities to oversee maintenance projects effectively
- Excellent customer service skills to interact with various stakeholders
- Mechanical knowledge
