Matchtech are supporting a key client with the recruitment of a Discipline Lead Traffic Engineer to working on high profile infrastructure projects in Toronto.
The Role:
Our client is renowned for its extensive experience in delivering complex projects globally, is seeking a discipline lead in traffic engineering for Canada. The successful candidate will join our leading-edge transportation planning and mobility team, working on multimodal transportation projects and collaborating with world-renowned transportation experts.
Our client has built a strong reputation for delivering complex and high-impact projects for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), including highway expansions, interchange improvements, bridge rehabilitations, and roadway upgrades across the province. Our longstanding relationship with MTO and deep understanding of its standards and processes give us a unique advantage in efficiently managing and delivering assignments.
To support our continued growth and ensure technical excellence, we are seeking a seasoned traffic engineer to serve as technical lead on complex MTO and municipal projects. This senior role involves guiding project teams, overseeing traffic engineering deliverables, and contributing to strategic planning and proposal development. It’s a unique opportunity to shape key transportation initiatives across Ontario within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Over 15 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering within the consulting sector, preferably in Ontario.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario for at least 10 years.
- RAQS-certified by MTO in a minimum of three traffic engineering specialties.
- Advanced knowledge of traffic engineering and modeling concepts and software.
- Strong understanding of municipal and provincial review processes, guidelines, and standards.
- Proven experience in project management.
- Involved in business development and experienced in preparing and leading proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads the preparation of service proposals and contributes to business development initiatives.
- Serves as technical lead on a broad range of projects, including environmental assessments, safety reviews, multimodal transportation planning, and traffic operations or impact studies.
- Leads the execution of transportation and traffic engineering studies from planning through delivery.
- Utilizes specialized software for transportation modeling and traffic analysis.
- Provides mentorship, technical oversight, and quality control for junior and intermediate staff.
- Participates in client, stakeholder, and public meetings.
- Conducts and oversees fieldwork, including site visits and data collection.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients and internal/external project teams.
