Temporary Part-Time Building Maintenance Worker
Penticton and District Society for Community Living (PDSCL)

Penticton and District Society for Community Living (PDSCL) is a non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals with diverse abilities in Penticton and surrounding communities. We provide essential services to people with intellectual disabilities, seniors, low-income adults, families, and individuals experiencing homelessness.

PDSCL is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Building Maintenance Worker for a 24-hour per week FLOAT position. This role is designed to cover shifts between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday, with participation in an on-call rotation.

As a FLOAT, you will be scheduled to fill in for staff absences such as vacations or sick days, cover vacancies, and provide additional support where needed. Your guaranteed 24 hours per week will be assigned within this availability window.

This is a temporary vacancy ending September 6, 2025, created to support the completion of multiple summer maintenance projects. If you're looking for guaranteed work this summer, this could be the perfect fit for you.

  • Guaranteed Hours: 24 hours per week
  • Additional Hours: Up to 16 additional hours may be available depending on project demands (not guaranteed).

Position Overview:

The Building Maintenance Worker performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks related to buildings, grounds, and equipment. Duties may include work in one or more areas such as:

  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Painting
  • Groundskeeping
  • General repairs and upkeep

This position also participates in the organization’s on-call rotation.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 10 education, plus related vocational training (e.g., building maintenance course)
  • Two (2) years of recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Other Employment Requirements:

  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (working with vulnerable adults and children)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  • Medical clearance confirming fitness to work
  • Working knowledge of production and safety practices
  • Knowledge of fire safety protocols and fire equipment
