Trillium Lakelands District School Board requires one temporary full-time Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) for the period **September2,2025toJune****26,**2026.

Position****Description:

This temporary full-time position is associated with the school year calendar. The successful candidate will report directly to the Superintendent of Learning or designate, working as part of the Department of Specialized Services This position is responsible for facilitating the delivery of speech-language pathology services for students with communication needs in regular or specialized settings as assigned and under the direction of a TLDSB Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in compliance with board policies and procedures.

This position requires the successful candidate to travel widely to sites within TLDSB to deliver programming to students. Dependable transportation is required.

Responsibilities:

  • To support the recommendations made by SLPs regarding speech and language programming, resources, accommodations, and modifications for students with communication difficulties involving listening, speaking, reading and/or writing.
  • To provide direct speech and language therapy to students individually or in small groups.
  • To participate along with a supervising SLP in-school team, multi-disciplinary team and family meetings to support a preventative and integrated approach.
  • To model language facilitation strategies and the use of visual materials, communication devices/systems to members of a classroom educator team upon request of an SLP.
  • To implement, troubleshoot and support augmentative alternative communication tools.
  • To create individualized speech and language communication and literacy programming and therapy materials to meet a student's communication and/or literacy development goals as determined by the SLP.
  • To collect student specific data as requested by a SLP to help inform the programming recommendations provided.
  • To provide workshops and training relevant to students with communication disorders in conjunction with the SLP.
  • To work as an active member of the school and department teams to ensure the safety and success of all students.
  • To demonstrate accountability for CDA professional practice standards and in accordance with established board policies and procedures.
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Learning or designate.

RequiredSkillsInclude:

  • Knowledge and training in augmentative communication and special communication devices.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and have access to own transportation.

Qualifications:

  • Related diploma or degree and Communication Disorders Assistant Graduate Certificate is required.
  • Registration with the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDACC).
  • Minimum one year related experience is an asset.
