About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate, high-energy leader with a can-do attitude who thrives both on deck and in the water. As our Aquatic Program Coordinator, you’ll play a central role in team leadership, instructor development, program quality, and client satisfaction across multiple locations.
This is a hybrid role, blending both remote administrative work and on-site presence at pool locations. If you're someone who brings energy, clarity, and empathy to your leadership style, this role offers you the chance to grow, lead, and truly make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Coordinate online and in-water interviews with candidates
- Lead all onboarding tasks, including digital training and co-teaching sessions
- Track and support takeover milestones to ensure a confident and prepared start for new hires
Training & Development
- Plan and lead ongoing staff training, in-services, and coaching opportunities
- Mentor instructors on-deck and provide regular, actionable feedback
- Conduct formal staff evaluations
- Ensure all certifications (NLS, First Aid/CPR-C, Swim Instructor) remain current
Scheduling & Operational Oversight
- Coordinate with our Aquatics Manager weekly lesson and instructor schedules
- Monitor and support multiple pool locations, ensuring cleanliness, readiness, and safety
- Liaise with facility staff or landlords as needed for maintenance and supplies
- Participate in weekly planning and internal operations meetings (remote and in-person)
Client Relations
- Serve as a friendly, visible point of contact for families and clients on deck
- Manage feedback, questions, and occasional concerns with professionalism and care
- Communicate clearly about swimmer progress, instructor changes, and session logistics
Teaching & Program Support
- Teach swim lessons each week to stay grounded in program delivery
- Collaborate with Head Instructors to ensure consistent class delivery and student success
- Lead special projects that improve efficiency, client experience, or team morale
Who You Are
- A certified National Lifeguard
- Holds Standard First Aid & CPR-C
- Friendly, proactive, and thrives in a team-based, hands-on environment
- Organized, responsive, and comfortable juggling shifting priorities
- Excited to travel between pool sites and work in a hybrid model (on-site + admin from home)
- Available weekends, with a set day off (Friday) and a second day off on rotation

About The Aqua Life Swim Academy
ALSA is a Private Swim School dedicated to improving the Aqua Lives of children, teens and adults! We are based out of Ottawa, Ontario and offer private/semi private swimming lessons to all ages.
We currently operate out of four locations throughout the city for our clients convenience. We are proud to have served over 1200 clients in the Ottawa area and now with the introduction of two new locations in the city we are providing over 300 customized swim lessons per month.
Our Mission:
We strive to enrich every child, teen and adult's Aqua Life by meeting their individual needs. Our purpose is to develop swimmers in a safe and private/semi private lesson customized to their specific needs.
