JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Geotechnical Technician with 2+ years of relevant experience to support our field and laboratory operations in Edmonton. This intermediate-level role is suited for candidates with hands-on experience in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or related fields. You will perform a variety of quality control and assurance activities, including soil compaction and concrete testing, laboratory analysis, and site inspections.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform field soil compaction tests (e.g., nuclear density gauge readings) in accordance with project specs
-
Conduct concrete testing in the field (slump, air, temperature, cylinder casting)

Support soil and aggregate testing in our in-house lab
-
Assist with pile monitoring and other geotechnical inspection tasks
-
Maintain accurate records and submit clear, detailed reports
-
Calibrate, clean, and maintain testing equipment regularly
-
Ensure all testing meets regulatory, industry, and client standards
-
Participate in daily safety meetings and follow LN’s HSE protocols
-
Communicate results and observations clearly with project managers and field supervisors
QUALIFICATIONS

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or related field (Required)

Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract
-
Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
-
Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
-
Flexible schedule with willingness to work overtime, weekends, or early mornings
-
Strong attention to detail and excellent written/verbal communication skills
-
Safety-oriented and reliable with a strong work ethic
-
Previous experience or internship/co-op in construction materials testing is an asset
-
CCIL certification (soils and/or concrete) is an asset – training provided if needed
