About the role
A Bread Affair is looking for someone who is passionate about baking to join our amazing team on Granville Island as a Pastry Chef! Being on Granville Island, you will get to work in one of the most sought-after locations in all of Vancouver!
If you have experience with laminated dough or viennoiseries, and more general sweet baked goods such as bread pudding, scones, cookies, croissants and other pastries, we would like to hear from you!
Start times are between 6 - 8 am on weekdays, and possibly alternating 2 am start time on weekends especially on the peak season.
Salary:
$21 - $23/hour + tips
Skills Required:
- Prior experience in a similar role is required
- Certificate in Culinary Arts is an asset but not required
- Someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment
- Efficient and creative problem solver. You are always looking for ways to improve systems and processes.
- Flexible and adaptable to an evolving environment
- Creativity and joy in solving problems
- Strong interpersonal skills both for teamwork and customer service, with equal ability to work independently.

A Bread Affair is the one and only certified organic artisan bakery in British Columbia, meaning our bread is 100% GMO-free.
It's handcrafted in small batches by dedicated bakers, made with the finest locally sourced ingredients from the Lower Mainland and Okanagan. Our core values are Fresh, Local, Organic and you can taste that in each bite.
Just to name a few, we have classic loaves: Sourdough, Country White, Sprouted Wheat, and contemporary: Cranberry Semolina, Roasted Garlic & Three Cheese, Pecan Flax. Each loaf undergoes a two-day slow fermentation process to coax out its flavours.
Baked daily, we put the freshest bread on our shelves for your kitchen table, never selling day-olds. For lunch, we serve a variety of healthy sandwiches and for snack, indulge in a Pain Au Chocolat, Apple Cheddar Walnut Galette or Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie.
