We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in full-cycle accounting and payroll, who also thrives on optimizing processes and implementing efficiencies.

Summary

• Manage full-cycle accounting with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Process and oversee all payroll functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and proper GL reconciliation.
• Lead cash flow tracking, bank reconciliations, and credit card management to maintain strong financial controls.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process, providing insights and analysis to help business units make informed decisions.
• Continuously identify and implement process improvements to drive financial accuracy, efficiency, and automation.
• Collaborate with department leaders to enhance financial understanding and accountability across the organization.
• Identify and apply for eligible government grants, wage subsidies, and capital funding opportunities to support company initiatives.
• Prepare and present timely financial reports and dashboards to internal stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies and external financial regulations, including audit readiness.
• Serve as a reliable backup to the Accounting Manager, supporting leadership and continuity in financial operations.

General Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation or working toward completion is strongly preferred)

Experience:
5+ years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting, preferably in a medium-sized or multi-entity organization

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP system)
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
• Experience with payroll software and processes (e.g., Payworks, ADP, Ceridian)

Knowledge Areas:

• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Knowledge of Canadian payroll laws and government funding programs (e.g., wage subsidies, tax credits)

Analytical Mindset:

• Comfortable presenting financial information and training non-financial team members

This role has a salary range of $80,000-$95,000 plus a stake in the companies profit share which ranges from 1% to 8% of your total salary. The annual vacation allotment is 3 weeks.
