What You’ll Do: • Assist with daily personal and palliative care.
- Plan activities that promote independence and community connections.

- Help residents advocate for themselves and connect with social workers, family, and community resources.
- Teach life skills like budgeting, relationship-building, and healthy choices.

- Respond to emergencies and ensure a safe environment for all.

What You Bring
- Community and School Support Worker, Resident Care Aide, or Home Support Worker Certificate
- One (1) year of recent related experience working with seniors with developmental diverse abilities
- Or a combination of education, training, and experience.

Other Musts
- Valid BC Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License
(Or ability to obtain within probation – reimbursement available) + safe driving record
- Safe Driving Record & Reliable Vehicle
- TB Test (clear of tuberculosis)
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
- Unionized position with a 1.85% union dues deduction
- Physical abilities to provide individuals with personal care and recreational activities indoors and outdoors. Including supporting individuals in wheelchairs, and walkers, carrying, lifting, transferring, pushing, pulling, bending, assisting clients safely in and out of bed, and bath, and using lifts, and other health equipment appropriately.
- The following training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: First Aid, Mandt, SafeTalk, Medication Management, Privacy and Information Sharing, WHMIS, Safe Food Handling, Anti-Bullying and Harassment.
PPROGRAM: Desmond House
LOCATION: Kamloops, BC
STATUS: Full-Time
HOURS of WORK: 37.4 hours per week on average
SCHEDULE: 4 on 2 off between 3 pm-11 pm
REPORTS TO: Program Coordinator, Desmond House
COMPENSATION: $25.95 - $29.76 per hour (Grid 10 as per collective agreement)
