The Environmental Services Team at Providence Health Care is Hiring! Are you a dedicated leader with a passion for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and operational excellence in health care settings? Join our committed team as the Manager, Environmental Services and play a vital role in ensuring a safe, sanitary, and healing environment across Providence Health Care facilities.

What You Will Do As the Manager, Environmental Services, you will oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of environmental services at one or more designated Providence Health Care (PHC) sites. Reporting to the Director, Environmental Services, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of service delivery, including cleanliness, sanitation, waste management, and infection control. You will lead a team of dedicated staff, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to evidence-based cleaning and disinfection practices. Your role includes monitoring service quality, managing human and financial resources, and addressing performance issues. You will also collaborate with infection prevention and control teams to uphold safety standards and support patient care excellence.

What You Bring Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Operations Management or other related field.
  • Seven (7) years' leadership experience in housekeeping/environmental services including experience managing partner/service provider relationships and resolving client complaints in a hospital or similar large institutional environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills And Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of housekeeping, infection prevention and control, cleaning protocols, waste management, and floor care in health care settings.
  • Proven ability to lead in a unionized environment, manage staff performance, and foster a collaborative and accountable team culture.
  • Strong skills in project management, policy implementation, change management, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost analysis, contract negotiation, and understanding of commercial terms and contract law.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and present clear, actionable solutions.

About Environmental Services (EVS) Environmental Services (EVS) plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healing environment across PHC's facilities. Our team ensures high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control in patient rooms, hallways, and common areas. EVS staff work across multiple locations, supporting waste management, linen handling, and infection prevention. With a strong focus on safety and quality, EVS is essential to patient care and hospital operations.

Your Day to Day

  • Support planning and evaluation of environmental services to meet PHC goals
  • Develop and monitor procedures for cleaning, pest control, and waste management
  • Lead audits and follow-ups to maintain service quality and infection control
  • Assist with budgeting, monitor spending, and recommend adjustments
  • Recruit, coach, and evaluate staff to support performance and development
  • Manage HR issues and ensure compliance with collective agreements
  • Oversee vendor contracts and ensure service standards are met
  • Liaise with internal teams and regulators to align services with safety needs
  • Collaborate with partners to implement service plans and shared goals
  • Represent Environmental Services on committees and support leadership
