- Support high quality program planning; incorporating the Y's values
- Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards
- Operate the center as per the Y's child behavior management guidelines
- Build healthy relationships with children, parents, teachers, colleagues and external stakeholders
- Actively interact with children ages 6-12 as a play partner and homework helper
- Support implementation of play based educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, drama, games, team building, daily physical activity, and sports
- Promotes philanthropy and volunteerism through the YMCA

Certificate/diploma/degree in a related field, and/or ECE Assistant certification (considered an asset)

Ability to work independently, make decisions, and execute work with minimal support, in an environment with many urgent and competing priorities.

Models sensitivity to the diverse needs of participants, such as literacy, emotional, social, behavioural, and cultural differences and who can ensure participant information is kept confidential

Exceptional interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills

Proficient computer skills including use of Microsoft Office tools

- Provide 3 references of a professional nature (Ex. employer, supervisor, colleague, teacher, coach, etc.)
- Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
