The Technology Regulation and iGaming Compliance Branch is seeking an iGaming Compliance Assurance Specialist (Sport and Event Betting Stream) to step into a pivotal role within our team. As Ontario continues to navigate the regulated, competitive internet gaming (iGaming) market, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) plays a crucial role in maintaining market and game integrity while ensuring consumer protection.

As an iGaming Compliance Assurance Specialist, you will play a central role in the development and execution of a sport and event betting integrity framework and will carry out strategic risk-based, outcomes-focused regulatory and compliance assurance activities per the iGaming compliance program. You will also assess clients' controls in place to mitigate risk exposures for sport and event betting integrity in line with AGCO Standards and industry best practices, and support the development and execution of a sport and event betting integrity
framework.
You will liaise with multiple Independent Integrity Monitors, Sports Governing Bodies, major and minor sports leagues, other gaming regulators, and law enforcement agencies. As a team member, you will contribute to the team’s culture, centered on accountability and trust, and embrace team diversity.

Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory Compliance, the successful candidate will but not limited to:
- Act as a key member of AGCO’s modern compliance strategy by effectively assessing regulatory risk to target potential areas of non-compliance.
- Execute compliance assurance activities in respect of AGCO’s regulatory standards and requirements, drawing from a broad scope of knowledge and experience with a variety of compliance techniques, employed appropriately for differing circumstances.
- Monitor, assess, and investigate iGaming operators’ sport and event betting controls to ensure they are effectively upholding the integrity of betting and protection of customers.
- Keep abreast of emerging risks and trends relating to sport and event betting integrity that may have an impact on the Ontario iGaming market.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying issues and situations that require attention and engagement to resolve them.
- Embrace a client-centered approach when interacting with external stakeholders to ensure expectations are understood and compliance is met.
- Establish and develop strong trust-based relationships with peers throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Advanced knowledge of sport and event betting product offerings, integrity processes, and controls to deliver a range of effective compliance assurance activities gained through several years of professional experience, and some specialization in the relevant field.
- Experience performing investigations related to sport and event betting player protection, identifying risks and proposing appropriate mitigations.
- Knowledge and experience assessing and collecting evidence, and the ability to serve as a specialist for the activities within the sport and event betting area.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, conduct thorough research, and synthesize information to develop cohesive, end-to-end solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an investigative mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to comfortably communicate with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn other aspects of the iGaming industry/other specialist streams.
- Demonstrated relationship management skills with a proven ability to influence diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of the AGCO regulatory environment and the global iGaming industry will be an asset.
- The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
