The location in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Procurement Agent. This job is full-time permanent.
Overview:
Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
Your Challenges:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation to minimize industrial accidents and diseases. Control direct and indirect health and safety costs
- Work closely with procurement to manage equipment, materials, supplies, and outside services, ensuring cost-effective quality and service levels
- Expedite ordered goods, monitor shipping, follow up on backorders, and adjust orders as necessary
- Set up and stock inventory items, issue purchase orders to replenish stock, and support parts inventory for Ignace and Atikokan Sawmills
- Support vendor contract relationships and maintain the purchasing department's computerized database
- Perform audits, manage accruals, handle month-end tasks, control key boxes, and manage vendor additions and modifications
- Understand and apply Resolute's Purchasing Process & Policies, review and adjust quotes, attain approvals, Designation of Authority (DOA), and manage daily purchase orders. Fills out PJF forms as required, files and monitors MSA’s for rates and renewals, and applies work orders as needed. Update prices, PO amounts, and arrival dates. Understand CogniBox and suppliers interactions; liaisons with suppliers for compliance. Follow Indigenous Procurement Policies. Prepares and cuts daily PO’s
- Manage buyer emails, follow up on back-orders, pricing, and shipment delays, and issue and review annual purchase orders. Understands taxes related to Ontario & Quebec. Correct work orders, cost centers and GL’s on PO’s if inaccurate
- Work with divisional and operational personnel in the research and selection of materials services and costing information
- Maintain progressive implementation of parts ordering system, including an effective interface to Accounts Payable/Receivable
- Support maintenance Work Order Flow Process (Work Orders/Material Management/Job Kits)
- Monitor, set up, and stock inventory items as required, including issuing purchase orders to replenish stock
- Provide support to the Ignace and Atikokan Sawmills parts inventory
- Maintain and update the purchasing department’s computerized database
- Consult with immediate supervisor on pertinent matters and perform special projects and other assigned duties as required
Your profile:
- Procurement / Supply Chain Management certification, or equivalent will be an asset
- 3 to 5 years in a related industrial environment
- Ability to travel occasionally and handle off-hours and weekend emergency calls
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent judgment and ability to explain and influence
- Ability to work as part of a team, communicate with all levels of the organization, and adapt quickly to change
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and CMMS. Solid computer skills
- Perform the physical requirements of the position within the wood products industry
- Recognized for an uncompromising approach to safety
- Ability to adapt, organize, and implement best business practices
