Job Description
The Laborer’s job is to clean plant and to clean where and when necessary. The responsibilities encompass the entire plant.

Operate under direction of plant supervision
-
To obtain directives from Shift Supervisor
-
Assist with non-mechanical duties such as screen installation
-
Follow lockout procedures
-
Obtain, use and maintain PPE
-
Obtain, use and maintain assigned Tool Kit
-
Make sure work area is safe and free of debris
-
Ensure that all guards are in place in the immediate work area
-
Work will be performed as per supervisor’s instructions
-
Assist plant personnel when needed (i.e. short staffed on production)
-
You are responsible for ensuring all tools that you use get put away
-
You are responsible for reporting any dust emissions as well as all fluid spills or leaks
-
Know, Understand and follow Plant Lockout procedures
-
Immediately report any unsafe conditions, practices or accident, injury, near miss disputes or concerns and/or other circumstances
Qualifications
-
Should have a high school diploma or equivalent
-
Should have a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Labourer
-
Experience handling mini equipment like a telehandler, backhoe
-
Previous experience of working on a steel mill is an asset
