Sync Licensing Intern
Location: Remote / Toronto
Department: Music & Media
Reports To: Creative Director / Legal Team
About the Role:
Canyon Entertainment Group is looking for a passionate and organized Sync Licensing Intern to support our music licensing operations. If you love music, film, and TV—and are curious about how songs land in shows, ads, or games—this is a great opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes process of music placement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in researching and identifying sync opportunities in TV, film, advertising, games, and online content.
• Support communication with artists, agents, and partners to gather approval and rights info.
• Track pitches and licensing activities using internal tools.
• Help create music pitch decks and curated playlists for sync briefs.
• Organize and archive previous sync placements and cue sheets.
• Work with legal to assist with basic licensing documents and clearances.
What You'll Learn:
• How sync licensing works in the music & entertainment industry
• Music rights: publishing, master, and performance breakdowns
• Pitching music to media, negotiating usage rights, and supporting contracts
• Real-world legal, marketing, and business coordination in the music field
Ideal Skills:
• Strong interest in music, entertainment law, or marketing
• Excellent communication and organization
• Familiarity with spreadsheets, project tracking, or basic metadata (a plus)
• Detail-oriented and deadline-driven mindset
