Job description:
The Facility Manager oversees the daily operations of our roll repair workshop. This hands-on role will focus on overseeing workflow, equipment maintenance, and ensuring that customer orders are completed on time. Additionally, the Facility Manager will handle administrative duties, including invoicing, billing, and customer communication. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing both the operational and administrative aspects of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring efficient repair processes and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure that the reconditioning of pellet mill rolls meet quality and performance standards.
- Maintain an organized work area to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure essential parts and materials are stocked to avoid delays.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following established safety protocols.
- Ensure that all operations comply with safety regulations (e.g., WorkSafeBC, Environment and Climate Change Canada) and industry standards.
- Process customer repair orders in the company’s IT system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Handle invoicing for completed repair orders and ensure customers are billed correctly.
- Communicate with customers to provide updates on orders, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and submit reports on work completed, issues encountered, and customer communications.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Support ongoing maintenance and organization initiatives, including 5S and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
- Maintain clear and open communication with the team, management, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to address any operational or customer-related challenges
Qualifications (Required):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial equipment maintenance, mechanical repair, or workshop operations—ideally with pellet mills, dies, or similar machinery.
- Certified or eligible for immediate forklift certification
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Technical certification or associate’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing technology
- 1+ year of team leadership, mentorship, or informal supervisory experience, even if not in a formal manager role.
