- Cyber Security Bus. Lead 18 : Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval.

- The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

- We are looking for a dynamic and seasoned professional to grow our Network and Perimeter Security capabilities. This role will focus on implementing advanced network solutions using Cisco technologies (Firepower, DNA Center, Umbrella, AnyConnect ISE, Secure Network Analytics, etc.) and Azure networking services while ensuring the ongoing protection of our infrastructure. The position reports to the Director, Cybersecurity Operations & Engineering.
What you will be doing:
- Develop governance frameworks in partnership with business, risk, and compliance teams to secure network infrastructure effectively.
- Create policies and standards for network segmentation, access control, encryption, and perimeter defense aligned with Zero Trust principles.
- Lead the enterprise perimeter security capability through effective operations, enhancements, and capability delivery using Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD), DNA Center, Umbrella, ISE, VPNs (SSL/IPSec), SD-WAN solutions, Azure Virtual Networks, and other adjacent or complimentary tooling.
- Advocate for secure-by-design principles during solution development across teams.
- Establish Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the maturity of network security capabilities in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Oversee monitoring tools like SIEMs for threat detection across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Partner with infrastructure and application teams to ensure seamless integration of network security measures into operations.
- Work closely with managed service providers to implement advanced network security capabilities while maturing monitoring processes.
- Lead and support multiple network security projects from inception through execution while managing vendor performance, tracking risks/issues, reporting progress to management, and ensuring smooth handoff to operations teams.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on network-related programs led by cybersecurity or other organizational units requiring network expertise.
- Stay abreast of emerging threats in networking technologies (e.g., cloud-based attacks) and provide strategic recommendations for enhancements.
- Liaise with external agencies such as government cybersecurity bodies or advisory organizations to ensure robust security capabilities relative to peers in the industry.
What we are looking for:
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Management Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Minimum of 7 years’ hands-on experience in designing or managing enterprise networks, overseeing Cisco-based solutions or Azure networking services.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an outsourced IT or cybersecurity environment, either on the client or vendor side.
- Expertise in Cisco technologies including Firepower Threat Defense (FTD), DNA Center (DNAC), Umbrella, ISE, ASA firewalls, VPNs (SSL/IPSec), SD-WAN solutions.
- Experience with Azure networking tools such as Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, and VPN Gateways.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF) and cryptographic principles for secure communications.
- Working knowledge of both ITIL and Agile principles with an understanding of how backlogs are formed and how to influence them.
What will make you stand out:
- Certifications: Cisco CCNP Security/CCIE Security or Azure Networking.
- Experience implementing Zero Trust models within hybrid environments (on-premises/cloud).
- Familiarity with automation tools like Python or PowerShell for configuration management or threat response workflows.
- Knowledge of SIEM tools for log analysis or advanced threat detection techniques in cloud environments like Azure Sentinel.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams effectively.
- Experience working with offshore technical staff, with a focus on effective communication and performance management.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts in accessible language to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Bilingual in both official languages of Canada (English and French).
