SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR – On-Site – Contract (Maternity Leave)
Group Internal Audit and Assurance
Toronto, Canada
We are looking for a motivated Senior Internal Auditor to join the HSEC and Industrial Operations audit delivery team within our Group Internal Audit and Assurance (GIAA) function on a fixed term contract basis.
We offer a unique insight into Glencore’s worldwide business. Glencore’s GIAA applies innovative practices to provide assurance and advisory services to the company’s stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, co-ordinate and perform HSEC, Sustainability and Industrial Operations and assurance and consulting engagements worldwide
Understand strategic and operational business activities relevant to Industrial Operations
Identify and assess relevant risks and mitigating controls
Identify improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of business activities
Adhere to GIAA’s methodologies and procedures to ensure delivery of quality of work and outcomes
Support and maintain Glencore’s core values
Detailed responsibilities
Leading and delivering audit engagements
Lead and coordinate audit planning activities including defining priorities, scope areas, budgets, resource allocation and interactions with stakeholders
Prepare detailed audit work programmes considering relevant internal standards and accepted industry practices.
Identify control gaps, determine root causes, and support the business in developing appropriate actions to mitigate those gaps
Review detailed works performed by the delivery team
Prepare audit reports and communicating of results with relevant management
Monitor and review of finding and management action closure
Undertake ad-hoc special reviews as required
Build key stakeholder relationships and develop a comprehensive understanding of the business
Understand current and emerging risks and use this knowledge to provide relevant insights
Qualifications and Experience required
University degree is required; Areas of study could include (but are not limited to) Business, Finance, Organizational Behaviour, HSEC/ESG, and Engineering
The following certifications are a plus, but not required: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), CA, CPA or a HSEC related qualification
At least 10 years of working experience in an international environment (especially in the mining or similar industry)
The ideal candidate
Familiar with the mining/extractives industry and key risks
Able to lead and supervise complex audits
Ability to interact with management at all levels
Excellent English communication skills
French communication skills (preferable)
Motivation to operate as part of a global team
Team player, enthusiastic, consistent work attitude and can work well in a time-sensitive setting and flexible structure
Operationally excellent being able to organize, produce high-quality work and meet agreed deadlines
Interested to continuously learn about the company’s business
Analytical skills combined with critical thinking
Motivation to operate as part of a global team and travel up to 30% world-wide
Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
Must have valid passport / work permit for Canada
