The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Community Programs this role is responsible for effectively delivering, administering and supervising various recreation initiatives while promoting access and equitable processes for residents. The Programmer, Specialty Programs oversees the implementation, delivery and consistency of town wide inclusion programs, camps, and arena programs, while supervising volunteers, contract and part time staff while ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.
As the Programmer, Specialty Programs you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Lead a Collaborate in the planning, development and execution of a variety of recreation programs, services and initiatives, including inclusion, camps, and arenas.
- Provide behaviors management and physical assistance to a wide variety of individuals with disabilities.
- Cooperatively work with staff to develop, implement and evaluate year-round recreation programs to ensure the integration of participants with a disability.
- Analyze and assess integrated and adapted recreation program requirements and present recommendations to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Collect and analyze data related to customer feedback and effectiveness of marketing and sales.
- Liaise and represent the Town of Caledon while working with suppliers, schools, businesses, community partners and the general community.
- Support the Supervisor in the implementation of policies, procedures and programs that support the delivery of recreation programs.
- Respond to emergencies, customer inquiries and complaints, and ensure a positive relationship between the public, outside agencies and internal staff at all times.
- Ensure recreation programs adhere to quality assurance standards (e.g. HIGH FIVE®).
- Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a passionate professional with a post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies, or closely related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and progressive experience. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of one (1) year related experience in a recreation setting, including integrated and adapted programming. Experience in delivering camps and/or instructional sport programs is an asset
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of various disabilities, behaviour management techniques, physical interventions and family dynamics. We are seeking an individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to obtain and exchange routine information.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
This position offers an hourly rate of $33.49 - $41.86.
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
