About the role

Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering for a contract position with a client in Toronto, ON (Hybrid). Ideally looking for experience with Ambulance Communication(CAD, radio, phone, GIS, and paging within one or more assigned ACCs), PSRN(Public Safety Radio Network) preference would be someone with the required skills and experience, particularly in large organizations.

Job Purpose:

Support the Operations Group (Manufacturing, Warehouse, Materials) by implementing production improvements resulting in increases in efficiency and capacity.

Support the new product development group by suggesting design changes to improve the manufacturability of products.

Design production processes to manufacture new products.

1.Project Management

•Lead large-scale manufacturing engineering projects, e.g., line expansion

Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

• Implement approved plans and projects for plant, facilities, and equipment

• Ensure that there is alignment with all manufacturing activities, NPD, and

Regulatory activities during new product introduction

2. Production and Process Flow

• Measure and improve quality, cost, and throughput for manufacturing processes

• Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures in

manufacturing and materials

• Assist in operations decision making

• Measure and improve quality, cost, and throughput for manufacturing processes

• Analyze cost and quality across the entire device value stream and identify

opportunities for improvement

• Lead validation and verification activities for new and modified products and

process

• Ensure all process documentation are prepared e.g., PFMEA, work instructions,

standard operating procedures

• Ensure that training programs are developed and delivered for assembly skills

3. Plant Layout and Equipment Utilization

• Design new and modified plan layouts and facility drawings

• Ensure that recommendations for machinery and processes provide additional

efficiencies and/or are cost-effective

4. Health and Safety

• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the

Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.

• Ensure compliance with TMIs health and safety policies and procedures, e.g., neat

and orderly work environment, wearing prescribed PPE

• Identify and eliminate hazards throughout the manufacturing process

• Assist with hazard assessments and ergonomic risk evaluations. Assist with the

development of strategies to reduce exposure to injuries, e.g. repetitive strain

Education and Experience

  1. Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field of study

  2. Pursuing Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with Professional Engineers

Ontario (PEO)

  1. 5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in a high-volume manufacturing

environment is considered an asset

  1. Experience working in a regulatory industry is an asset, e.g., pharmaceuticals or

aerospace

Specialized Skill or Knowledge

  1. Computer literate with:

a. Advanced experience in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks 3D CAD

b. Advanced experience in MS Excel

c. Advanced experience in MS Word

d. Advanced experience in a Windows environment

  1. Theoretical and practical knowledge of assembly design and product manufacturing in

an ISO 13485 & GMP environment

  1. Experience developing and/or implementing LEAN Manufacturing and/or six sigma

initiatives

  1. Project management

  2. Excellent communication skills, oral and written

  3. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently

Essential Duties

  3. Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required

Working Conditions

  1. Compensation is based on a regular work week of forty (40) working hours; additional

hours may be required
