Payroll Specialist
Salary up to $78,000, Great Bonus, Full and Extensive Benefits on day one, Pension Plan + 3 Weeks of Vacation and personal days!!!
This role will be working in the office 3 days per week and it is located in downtown Vancouver (close to transit).
The OPPORTUNITY is with a client that is a prestigious financial institution, and growth within the organization requires a new addition to the payroll team. The Payroll Manager is looking for a long-term partnership with their Specialist. The Manager knows the value of a dedicated Payroll Specialist and wants someone with initiative, strong attention to detail and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders. In this role, you will manage the day to day of a Canadian multi-province payroll for both salaried and hourly employees. This is an exciting role for an experienced and highly capable Payroll Specialist who thrives in a busy environment!
Requirements:
- Review, and verify timesheets for a multi-province payroll (bi-weekly) ensuring accuracy and deadlines for the payroll (approx 200 hourly employees)
- Prepare and process a bi-weekly full cycle payroll (approx 200 salaried employees and 200 hourly)
- Process new hires, changes, and terminations, as well as processing all aspects of pay (regular, off cycle and special payments)
- Complete bi-weekly payroll reconciliations to balance all paid hours and amounts
- Complete ROEs and other government forms
- Process payments to various agencies with respect to payroll deductions, such as garnishment and union dues
- Complete pension reconciliation to make sure employer and employee contributions are set up and calculated correctly
- Process annual wage increases and bonuses for unionized and non-unionized employees.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve payroll issues or inquiries
- Assist in preparation of T4s/RL1s
- Verify / update/ maintain employee database
- Experience with any non-proprietary payroll software (ADP, SAP, Workday etc.)
- Continually strive for operational excellence; seek ways to streamline processes, create operational efficiencies
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in managing full cycle payroll (hourly and salaried)
- Strong planning and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage competing priorities
- Very detailed oriented
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Proven ability to maintain sensitive and highly confidential information
- Advanced Excel skills for reporting, metrics, and data validation
- Proficiency with various payroll software and programs
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Ability to work in an fast paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines
