Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for day-day operations of the company's stores across BC. This role is key to fostering a high-performance environment that prioritizes seamless operations across stores, drives sales, enforces regulatory compliance and manages multiple teams. The candidate will collaborate with the company’s leadership, store managers and the HR to ensure operational excellence and drive continuous improvement across all stores.
An ideal candidate must:
- Have at least 5 to 8 years of management experience
- Have experience working in an Operations Manager capacity for at least 2 years in a retail environment
- Have managed multiple stores and has overseen operations across multiple stores
- Have worked in a complex, dynamic business environment with challenges
- Be willing to travel within BC across stores
- Have strong knowledge of the cannabis industry
Candidates with experience in the cannabis industry as an Operations Manager would be an asset.

Store Management
The Operations Manager would be responsible for seamless operations of business across the stores of BC. Following are some of the responsibilities that come with it at the store level:
- Provide full accountability for daily store operations across locations
- Conduct regular store visits to ensure consistent adherence to company standards and protocols through periodic audits
- Oversee ordering and receiving of products across stores
- Oversee inventory management and hold managers accountable for inventory loss through tight inventory control measures
- Conduct investigations as applicable and take measures to reduce inventory loss
- Maintain Health & Safety and other compliance regulatory measures as per WorkSafe BC standards
- Conduct periodic store Audits, keep track of any variances or deviations from protocols and take corrective action to rectify them
- Evaluate and optimize costs through optimal utilization of resources
- Oversee training for managers and budtenders and evaluate training instruments and documents periodically
- Provide tools to increase sales in stores and coach managers and budtenders towards upselling techniques
- Supply business continuity procedures during emergencies
People Management
The Operations Manager would be responsible to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing and a highly engaged workforce working out of stores. Following are some of the responsibilities that come with it as a People Manager:
- Engage, coach and discipline employees as applicable
- Ensure all stores are adequately staffed as per the day/week/season through various hiring interventions by working with HR
- Provide necessary coaching techniques for managers by working with HR
- Ensure all schedules are published with sufficient notice for employees as per the company’s policy
- Work with Store Managers in identifying top talent through various performance metrics
Collaboration with Leadership
- Prepare and provide all reports on a timely basis without delays
- Ensure High Impact communication by acting as the bridge between Leadership and the stores through necessary communication and engagement tools
- Prepare and execute engagement frameworks by collaborating with HR to ensure real-time business and store updates to store employees
- Conduct periodic Manager meetings, establish managerial best practices and document them
- Work within the budgets provided through optimal solutions and executed existing processes
Community Engagement
- Participate in all marketing events to promote the brand
- Co-ordinate and collaborate with support office staff and store employees towards any community event that aids the industry or the brand
- Proactively engage with community stakeholders and establish relationships towards smooth operations of business in the store’s neighborhood
- Work in tandem with the marketing team to engage with neighboring businesses towards cross promotions
Innovation preferred
- Work towards process improvements in Operations that help save time and cost for the company
- Establish creative ways of controlling inventory losses through industry best practices
- Study industry best practices and report to leadership for benchmarking through various metrics
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
