As a CLXT I, you help clinicians and patients get the information they need to get a correct diagnosis, and restore, maintain, or optimize health. You’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of routine and specialized tests, including daily processing, testing, resulting, and reporting of diagnostic samples. Brooks laboratory is located within the Brooks Health Care Centre and services this Southern Alberta City as well as its surrounding areas. The location is staffed with a strong team of laboratory professionals that offer strong patient focused service to their community. Brooks is located in the Grassland Natural Region of Alberta, home to a number of enticing attractions including the JBS Leisure Centre which houses a curling rink, aquatic center w/ wave pool, a gymnasium, and fitness center, the Duke of Sutherland Park featuring baseball diamonds, a soccer field, playground and 3200 sq ft waterpark. Close proximity to three provincial parks: Dinosaur Provincial Park, Tillebrook Provincial Park and Kinbrook Island Provincial Park. Relocation assistance may be available with a Return of Service Agreement.

Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful applicant must have a strong sense of teamwork and possess excellent communication skills. Strong technical skills and adaptability is imperative in this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, as well as recent phlebotomy and bench experience is an asset.
