Nisa Foundation is a community-based charity that has promoted safety, security, and mental wellness for racialized women across Canada since 2014. The organization provides toll-free peer-to-peer counseling services, transitional homes for women & children fleeing abuse or homelessness, and facilitates educational workshops. Nisa Foundation's mission is to transform communities by engaging, equipping, and enriching the lives of women and children to reach their full potential.

The Grant Writer will aid and support Nisa Foundation with grant and loan funding. Duties include writing, editing, and submitting grants, preparing reports, understanding funding needs, ensuring compliance with funding requirements are met and provide assistance to reporting manager as needed.

What You’ll Do:

Grant Research and Qualification:

  • Identify and assess potential grant opportunities using databases (Grant Connect, Masterlist), newsletters, social media, and other sources.
  • Add at least five grants monthly to the "Identified" pipeline in ClickUp.
  • Evaluate funding opportunities for alignment with Nisa Foundation’s mission and program needs.

Grant Writing and Submissions:

  • Write and submit 4-6 applications per month, adhering to funder requirements.
  • Draft applications using Word templates for internal reviews before submission.
  • Collaborate with the Grants Lead and other departments for information and approvals.
  • Maintain organized application folders in SharePoint with all relevant documents.

Grant Management and Tracking:

  • Manage the grant pipeline in ClickUp, ensuring timely submissions and tracking statuses.
  • Complete post-submission tracking forms and update grant details in the system.
  • Provide timely reports to funders and ensure compliance with grant agreements.

Resource Management:

  • Update and maintain the Writing Resources folder, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Regularly review and document new or updated programs for reference.

Team Collaboration:

  • Attend weekly check-ins and check-outs to provide updates and coordinate assignments.
  • Participate in monthly one-on-one meetings with the Grants Lead to discuss performance and professional development.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with funders to clarify requirements and confirm submissions.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including webinars and workshops.
  • Other ad hoc tasks and meetings as required

  • Comfort with independent work while also maintaining good working relationships with teammates.
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Experience with grant writing and/or fundraising is an asset.
