Policy & Events Coordinator
(Part-Time, Contract, Sept. 2 - Nov. 22, 2025, 40 hours total, $3,500 honorarium)

Company Overview:

Street Haven is a dynamic women’s multi-service agency that provides shelter, supportive housing, training supports, and addictions therapy to vulnerable women in Toronto. We were established in 1965 and serve approximately 1500 individuals annually. We have seen an increasing complexity of mental health and addiction needs among our clients; thus, we continually seek to provide comprehensive support to improve the lives of our clients.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Grant Writing and Research Specialist, we are seeking a graduate student or recent graduate in Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Work, or a related field, or an individual with equivalent experience in advocacy, event coordination, or policy, to support the coordination of our 2025 National Housing Day Action at Queen’s Park. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of this high-impact event, which aims to affirm housing as a gendered human right.

As the Policy & Events Coordinator, you will:

  • Coordinate logistics for the November 22, 2025 National Housing Day Action at Queen’s Park (venue booking, scheduling, on-site coordination)
  • Develop and format accessible policy materials and briefing notes
  • Liaise with partner organizations and women with lived experience to support meaningful participation
  • Draft media releases and coordinate social media content
  • Manage Eventbrite registration and maintain attendee lists
  • Coordinate a press conference and meetings with policymakers, including scheduling and preparation
  • Provide general administrative support related to the event

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Master’s program in Public Administration, Policy, Social Work, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Ontario’s housing, homelessness, or gender-equity landscape is an asset
  • Experience coordinating events or advocacy campaigns is preferred
  • Commitment to centering lived experience, equity, and trauma-informed approaches

Where we work

This role is based in Downtown Toronto and requires working in-office 40 hours total from September 2, 2025 to November 22, 2025 with a total compensation of $3,500 honorarium.
