ABOUT THE ROLE
Lafarge Canada is seeking a full-time Commercial Transport journeyman Mechanic to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of commercial transport vehicles and other heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

Road test motor vehicles and test automotive systems and components.

Inspect, test, diagnose, adjust, repair, and replace parts and components of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

Perform scheduled maintenance service.

Complete reports to record problems and work performed.

Estimate parts and labor costs.

Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
-
Keep accurate records of work completed, parts used, and costs.

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience: 3-5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Training/Certifications: Interprovincial Ticket as a Commercial Transport Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic Ticket, Province of Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspectors Certificate
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of Hours of Service and Provincial truck driving regulations, ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical systems

Able to work starting from 7:00 am Monday-Fridays, and Saturdays when necessary

Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Perform CVIP on Commercial Fleet

First aid certification is an asset.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical assessment.

Proven ability to follow safe work procedures and complete field risk assessments.
-
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
