Customer Care Field Service Technician
About the role
Ballard has an immediate opportunity for a Customer Care Field Service Technician to provide both on-site and remote technical support for our fuel cell products, primarily integrated into transit buses and trucks. This role is critical in ensuring the performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction of Ballard’s clean energy solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site and remote field support for Fuel Cell Electric Buses, including installation, troubleshooting, servicing, and maintenance.
- Deliver high-quality customer service and technical guidance to both existing and new customers.
- Recommend service improvements and repair strategies to enhance product performance.
- Accurately maintain service logs, repair records, and maintenance documentation.
- Travel to customer locations within a 50-mile radius as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of field service experience with fuel cell products or electric transit buses in a transit or similar environment.
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
- Advanced troubleshooting skills specific to electric transit buses.
- Strong knowledge of fuel cell systems and their operation (an asset).
- Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical component repair and replacement.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, technical drawings, and P&ID loop diagrams.
- Proficiency with software tools including Windows, Word, Excel, Vantage Point, and other diagnostic or reporting tools.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external customers.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The typical hiring range for this position is $75,040 - $117,250 annually. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on job related knowledge, education, qualifications, and internal equity.
