Key Responsibilities / Overview
Our Education Guides deliver transformative educational experiences that engage, thrill and inspire young minds with hands on learning and interactive demonstrations. Our curriculums are designed to meet the British Columbia Ministry of Education’s prescribed learning outcomes for each grade level and to enhance traditional curriculums by bringing education to life.
Reporting to the Manager of Sales, the Assistant Manager of Education Programs translates the vision and strategic goals of the Sea to Sky Gondola Education Program to successfully implement education programs and achieve the targeted growth in education group sales and visits. They provide leadership to the Education Guides and act as the key liaison for all Education Program planning, logistics and implementation.
The Assistant Manager of Education Programs is dedicated to building a knowledgeable and passionate team that provides outstanding service to our guests and contributes to the evolution of our education program curriculum. As part of a dynamic and fun sales team, this role works collaboratively to achieve annual sales goals and create a positive work environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of the education program from initial lead to finalizing the booking.
- Respond to leads and inquiries and enter prospective leads into sales software program.
- Liaise with teachers throughout the process.
- Support the sales team in responding to teacher’s questions prior to booking and be the main contact throughout the experience.
- Conduct site tours/inspections if needed.
- Prepare education program contracts and process payments.
- Hire and schedule on-call education guides to implement the programs.
- Train the on-call education guides.
- Guide education programs as needed.
- Liaise with the operations and sales team to schedule guides for corporate events as required.
- Manage and maintain all education resources used on-site by the guides.
- Coordinate with operations, on-call education guides and events with educational focused and children’s programming (such as Storytime, Baby & Me, Trails & Tea and other activities at key times of the year).
- Ensure all groups are running smoothly and students have positive and memorable experiences.
- Embody our value “safety starts with us’ and comply with health and safety regulations, participate in Sea to Sky Gondola’s health and safety program, and report incidents, injuries and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
- Support Sea to Sky Gondola’s sustainability goals to reduce waste and energy consumption and encourage employee and guest engagement.
- Gather feedback through the post-program survey for teachers to continually improve the programs.
- Update and develop program content and materials as required to ensure alignment with the BC Curriculum.
- Motivate and engage team members, lead by example, and provide regular feedback on individual performance and growth plans.
- Ensure team members have the tools and resources needed to succeed in their roles.
- Work with the sales team and attend school meetings and tradeshows as required.
- Work with the sales and marketing team on an ongoing communication plan for schools, including direct marketing, website content, social media updates and familiarization tours.
- Work with the Sales Manager to develop the annual Education Program strategy and budget, with a focus on growth and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
- Other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other educational institutions, regulatory bodies, employer groups, and the community at large.
- Provide effective leadership to motivate and inspire Education Guides and other team members.
- Exceptional employee training and guest service skills.
- Proven leadership and team building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Highly organized and logistics oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Effective and adaptable problem solver.
- Excellent time management with ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to be outdoors in variable weather conditions for long periods of time.
Required Training, Education and Experience
- is an asset, including familiarity with education delivery.
- Strong education and/or instructional background and experience required.
- Proven competency with creating educational content for program delivery to a varied demographic.
- Understand the theories and processes of instructional design for learners of various demographics (including children and youth).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the methods, materials, procedures and practices related to the curriculum.
- Criminal Record Check (working with vulnerable persons) required.
- First Aid and/or CPR certification is an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
