COMPENSATION: $21.55 per hour
HOURS: 6 hours per day (3 hours before school, 3 hours after school, as scheduled)
JOB SUMMARY:
The BLAST Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the Before and After School Program
to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students. This position promotes positive child development,
fosters strong relationships with staff and families, and manages program operations within budget and policy guidelines. This
position supports the strategic actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
As the BLAST Program Coordinator, your responsibilities and duties will include:
- Promoting a safe, inclusive environment
- Supervising and supporting staff and volunteers
- Planning and implementing programming
- Managing attendance, group assignments and family records
- Attending and contributing to staff meetings
- Developing and maintaining staff schedules
- Fostering relationships with parents and guardians
- Coordinating snack service
- Managing health and safety requirements
- Overseeing inventory and budget management
- Managing student fees and records
- Performing other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, or a related field preferred.
- Training in inclusive or trauma-informed care is an asset.
- First Aid and CPR training completed within the probationary period (90 working days).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a childcare, education, or recreational program environment.
- Experience supervising staff and planning child-centered programming.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead a team and manage program logistics.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and family engagement.
- Proficiency with administrative tasks, including fee tracking and reporting.
- Skills in both official languages (English and French) are an asset.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
- Respect In School or equivalent training is required.
- Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines.
- Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s License, current Driver’s Abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle.
