About the Role
PowerCo Canada is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Coordinator to support the payroll function during the ramp-up of our North American operations. Reporting to the Manager, HRBP, Employee Relations, & Global Assignments, this role will assist the Payroll lead with day-to-day payroll operations, data entry, and employee support. The Payroll Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
This is a flex hybrid work structure, where employees can work both remotely and on-site at our St. Thomas location.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls using Dayforce.

Enter and maintain employee data including new hires, terminations, and changes in payroll systems.

Support the collection and verification of time and attendance data from Kronos.

Perform basic calculations for overtime, shift premiums, and retroactive payments.

Generate and distribute standard payroll reports and summaries.

Respond to employee payroll inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed.

Assist with the preparation of Records of Employment (ROEs) and year-end documentation (T4s, T4As).

Coordinate with HR and Benefits teams to ensure accurate payroll deductions and benefit enrollments.

Maintain payroll files and documentation in accordance with company policies and audit requirements.

Support payroll audits and compliance checks as directed.

Participate in process improvement initiatives and system testing as required.
What you bring to the Team
-
Diploma or Associate Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field.
-
PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification in progress or completed is an asset.

1–3 years of experience in payroll or a related administrative role.

Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and Kronos is preferred.

Familiarity with Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Experience with coordination of global teams is a strong plus

High degree of intercultural awareness and sensitivity

A background in manufacturing, automotive or startups is a plus
