About Us:
Bridges Niagara is a community-focused organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families through high-quality resettlement and social support programs. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Finance Officer to provide essential financial and administrative support during a period of organizational transition.

Position Summary:
The Finance Officer will support day-to-day financial operations, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial transactions related to program delivery and organizational operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in finance and an interest in community impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with processing payments, managing invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records for settlement and community programs.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports for review by Senior Management
  • Support budget tracking and expense monitoring to ensure compliance with donor and Organizational guidelines.
  • Prepare financial reports for submission to various funders and the Board
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of expenses and other transactions
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready filing of receipts, contracts, and other financial documents.
  • Collaborate with program staff to verify financial data and support routine financial processes.
  • Assist with financial tracking and reporting related to grants and contribution agreements.
  • Provide operational financial support to the Interim Executive Director and Acting Associate Director
  • Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 4-5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, financial reporting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., QuickBooks online).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive financial information.
