Summary

Position Overview

We are currently hiring Security Guards in the Kelowna area who are professional, dependable, and customer focused. This is a contract position for a minimum of 3 months, which requires working an 8-hour shift and a 4-on, 4-off shift rotation alternating between various shift schedules perfect for work-life balance.

Please note this is not a fly-in/ fly out position and housing is not provided. Applicants must reside in the Kelwona region and able to commute to work daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and random patrols of designated areas
• Monitor site access and verify credentials of individuals entering restricted areas
• Engage with individuals in unauthorized areas using respectful communication and de-escalation techniques to encourage voluntary compliance with property rules and assist in relocation, when necessary, in accordance with company protocols and local and provincial laws
• Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and incident documentation
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and safety-related incidents
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols not limited to standing, walking, and driving for long periods of time
• Communicate professionally with clients, visitors, and emergency responders
• Provide exceptional, high level customer service to the client in a sometimes challenging and dynamic environment
• Ensure client property, investments and personnel are secure against theft, vandalism, and illegal activity

Required Experience:

• Law Enforcement and/or Military Experience preferred
• Security Experience over 12 years will be considered - references are required

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a security guard or in a similar role is preferred.
• Valid BC Security Basic Security License- Mandatory
• Valid British Columbia AST Certificate- Mandatory
• Basic First Aid (formerly OFA Level 1)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol test
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
• Physically fit and able to perform foot patrols and extended standing as needed
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean abstract and access to reliable transportation (site dependent)

Additional Assets (Preferred, but not required)

• Experience in security, military, or law enforcement
• WHMIS, CSTS, or other industry safety certifications
• Occupational First Aid Level 1, 2, or 3
