What you'll do:
- Oversee the planning and coordination of preparing financial statements and managing audits for US and Canadian entities alongside Senior Accountants.
- Review statutory working papers, financial statements, note disclosures, memos, and process documentation prepared by your team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage work-in-progress (WIP) processes as well as relationships with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit cycles.
- Lead a small team of accountants by nurturing their development through training plans and ongoing performance feedback.
- Ensure effective control frameworks are embedded into all relevant processes while identifying and addressing risks in collaboration with senior finance leaders.
- Drive the end-to-end documentation of process flows within your areas of responsibility to enhance transparency and efficiency.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives with regional leadership to identify opportunities for automation and improved controls within financial operations.
- Communicate effectively across finance teams at all levels of seniority as well as with external service providers such as auditors.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders both centrally and across regions by applying excellent customer service principles.
- Identify development needs within your team members and set tailored training plans to support their professional growth.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or economics is required to provide a solid foundation for technical responsibilities.
- Qualified CPA designation is mandatory for this position due to regulatory requirements in statutory accounting.
- Experience with a Big 4 or public accounting firm required.
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or JDE-and/or SAAS applications-is highly desirable for efficient workflow management.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams with an emphasis on nurturing development through supportive leadership practices is important.
- Exceptional communication skills are necessary for effective interaction across multiple teams and external partners at varying levels of seniority.
- Strong analytical abilities are needed to review complex financial data accurately while maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
- Ability to listen actively, demonstrate empathy towards colleagues' perspectives, and remain calm during challenging situations is valued highly.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills are crucial for building dependable relationships both internally and externally.
- Familiarity with risk and issue management processes ensures proactive identification of potential challenges within financial operations.
